Fort Laramie National Historic Site

Size: 833 Acres

Overview: Fort Laramie National Historic Site lays claim to pivotal historical accounts of the westward expansion. Built as a fur trading hub in the mid-1800s, Fort Laramie then became a military post. Witnessing an entire time period where the movement of people, both willfully and not, the fort held its ground until 1890, at which time it was no longer of use to the military.
