Saint Croix Island International Historic Site

Size: 6.5 Acres

Overview: Dedicated to remembering the courage and suffering of French colonists in 1604-05, Saint Croix Island International Historic Site examines the harsh realities that European immigrants faced as they attempted to settle in the New World.

The site includes a mainland site with interpretive displays and a picnic area, and the 6.5-acre Saint Croix Island where the settlers struggled to survive their first North American winter. The island itself is closed to visitors for protection. Allow about an hour to explore the historic site. If you have an extra hour, check out the schedule of ranger programs.

Fees, permits, and reservations may apply.
