Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Size: 4,351 Acres

Overview: Who knew that Idaho had so much history in one place? At Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument the fossils outnumber the people! Named for the Hagerman Horse, an ancestor of the modern-day horse, this land has many other treasures that have been discovered. Ancient bones of sabertooth cats, mastodons, ground sloths, and camels are all found in the beds. Though it’s known for these wonders, the monument is also a great place to see living animals!

Fees, permits, and reservations may apply.
